Las Vegas Sands Owner Vows to Have Nothing to Do with Hamas Supporters

Las Vegas Sands’ Majority Stakeholder Slams Hamas Supporters

In an op-ed published in Israel Hayom, Dr. Miriam Adelson, who inherited the majority stake in Las Vegas Sands following her husband’s passing, publicly condemned Hamas supporters, calling them enemies of the Jewish community. She wrote, “If you condemn Hamas and then add a ‘but’ followed by condemnation of Israel, you’re dead to us.”

Adelson continued to criticize those who fail to recognize Israel’s right to defend itself and eliminate threats to its existence posed by groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Iranian regime. She urged Jewish opponents to be morally and intellectually clear-eyed, stating, “We will not forgive our enemies in Gaza or anywhere else.”

Carrying on her late husband Sheldon Adelson’s mission, Dr. Adelson has committed to improving relations between the US Jewish community and lawmakers in DC. The Adelsons have also been known for their significant donations to the Republican Party, contributing $524 million to GOP candidates and PACs since 2011.

As the majority stakeholder of Las Vegas Sands, Dr. Adelson has wielded considerable influence in the company’s operations. She has also played a significant role in US politics, notably in her support for Donald Trump, which resulted in the relocation of the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Following her husband’s death, Las Vegas Sands sold The Venetian Resort and Palazzo on the Las Vegas Strip for $6.25 billion to Vici Properties and Apollo Global Management. The company has also divested from other properties, including the Sands Bethlehem resort in Pennsylvania in 2019.

Regarding the 2024 GOP presidential candidate, Dr. Adelson has indicated that she will respect the will of GOP voters and support the candidate who emerges as the party’s nominee. However, with strong indications suggesting that Donald Trump is the frontrunner, she has stayed noncommittal, instead focusing on maintaining her late husband’s legacy and contributions to the Jewish community.
