Nikki Haley Secures Koch Family Backing for 2024 GOP Primary Bid
Former United States ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is gaining support for her 2024 Republican Party primary run. The powerful Koch family, known for their financial backing of GOP candidates and opposition to Donald Trump, is throwing their political clout behind Haley.
The Kochs, one of the country’s richest families with an estimated net worth of $118 billion, have decided to back Haley in an effort to stop Trump from being the party’s presidential nominee once again. They are set to donate millions of dollars to her campaign through their super political action committee (PAC), Americans for Prosperity Action.
AFP president and CEO Emily Seidel expressed her organization’s full support for Haley, stating that she offers America the opportunity to turn the page on the current political era and defeat Joe Biden in the upcoming election.
However, the move has drawn criticism from Trump and his camp. His campaign communications manager issued a statement in response to the Koch family backing Haley, stating that no amount of money will stop the MAGA movement or President Trump from winning the Republican nomination and defeating Joe Biden.
Despite the Koch family’s backing, Haley remains a distant second to Trump, who is considered the favorite for the GOP ticket.
The Kochs are also set to enter the commercial casino industry with the opening of the Fontainebleau resort on the Las Vegas Strip, an investment that is unrelated to their political activities. Meanwhile, another major Republican donor, Dr. Miriam Adelson, widow of Sheldon Adelson, has pledged to wait until the primary process concludes before opening her deep pockets to support a candidate.
